Long-term stable metal organic framework (MOF) based mixed matrix membranes for ultrafiltration

چکیده

In this study, novel mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) were synthesised by adding metal organic frameworks (MOFs) (UiO-66 and UiO-66-NH 2 ) to pristine sulfonated polyethersulfone (PES). The differing synthetic method resulting in MMM where additives grafted the polymer, or formed a natural interface, allowing impact of these features be investigated. composite characterised FTIR, PXRD, water contact angle, porosity, pore size, etc. Membrane performance was investigated permeation flux, flux recovery ratio, fouling resistance anti-fouling performance. stability test also conducted for all prepared membranes. A higher reduction angle observed after both MOFs PES compared An enhancement membrane embedding into matrix, with increased remarkably (565 LMH PES+UiO-66-NH at 5% loading 487.1 SPES-UiO-66(10% binding) while BSA rejection still kept high level. By ratio greatly (more than 99% most membranes). showed protein adsorption After immersing 3 months, 6 months 12 stable retained their structure. This study indicates that UiO-66 are great candidates designing long-term applications wastewater treatment. • embedded SPES matrix. hydrophilic show super ratio. property. maintained months.

Metal organic framework mixed matrix membranes for gas separations

Please cite this article in press as: R. Adams et Mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) for gas separations are traditionally comprised of zeolites dispersed in a polymer matrix in order to improve desired penetrant permeability and selectivity. Zeolites have a variety of drawbacks for this application – chiefly, a limited number of possible zeolite structures – that limit their potential for use in MM...

Metal-organic framework based mixed matrix membranes: a solution for highly efficient CO2 capture?

The field of metal-organic framework based mixed matrix membranes (M(4)s) is critically reviewed, with special emphasis on their application in CO2 capture during energy generation. After introducing the most relevant parameters affecting membrane performance, we define targets in terms of selectivity and productivity based on existing literature on process design for pre- and post-combustion C...

Self-cleaning Metal Organic Framework (MOF) based ultra filtration membranes - A solution to bio-fouling in membrane separation processes

Bio-fouling is a serious problem in many membrane-based separation processes for water and wastewater treatment. Current state of the art methods to overcome this are to modify the membranes with either hydrophilic additives or with an antibacterial compound. In this study, we propose and practise a novel concept to prevent bio-fouling by developing a killing and self-cleaning membrane surface ...

Synthesis of magnetic metal-organic framework (MOF) for efficient removal of organic dyes from water

A novel, simple and efficient strategy for fabricating a magnetic metal-organic framework (MOF) as sorbent to remove organic compounds from simulated water samples is presented and tested for removal of methylene blue (MB) as an example. The novel adsorbents combine advantages of MOFs and magnetic nanoparticles and possess large capacity, low cost, rapid removal and easy separation of the solid...

Metal–Organic Framework-Functionalized Alumina Membranes for Vacuum Membrane Distillation

Nature-mimetic hydrophobic membranes with high wetting resistance have been designed for seawater desalination via vacuum membrane distillation (VMD) in this study. This is achieved through molecular engineering of metal–organic framework (MOF)-functionalized alumina surfaces. A two-step synthetic strategy was invented to design the hydrophobic membranes: (1) to intergrow MOF crystals on the al...
